How a sports jersey is built
A sports jersey, or team shirt, is usually fully sublimated: artwork is built to the pattern pieces of every size, printed on paper, transferred into white polyester fabric under heat, then cut and sewn. The colour sits inside the fibre, so there is no print layer to crack.
A jersey carries more construction than a sports tee: side panels, underarm gussets, mesh inserts, an engineered collar and player names and numbers, either sublimated into the file or heat-applied later. Seams are overlocked, with coverstitch or flatlock where they lie against the skin.
- Typical fabrics
- Micro-polyester jersey, polyester interlock, bird-eye mesh, polyester with elastane for close fits
- Indicative weight
- Polyester interlock roughly 145 to 200 g/m², micro-polyester jersey 110 to 150 g/m² (indicative, specified per project)
- Decoration
- Sublimation in-house; names and numbers sublimated or heat-applied
- Minimum order
- 300 pieces per colour and per style
