How a T-shirt is built

A T-shirt is cut from circular-knitted single jersey: a front, a back, two sleeves and a neck rib. Shoulders are overlocked and taped, the rib is joined into a ring and stretched into the neckline, and hems are coverstitched so they extend with the fabric instead of breaking.

With no collar, placket or knitted cuff, much of the quality risk sits in the fabric: shrinkage, spirality and neck recovery. A tubular body has no side seams and suits straight cuts; open-width fabric with side seams allows a shaped fit.

Typical fabrics: Single jersey in combed cotton, blends or cotton with elastane; interlock for a smoother, more stable tee
Indicative weight: Single jersey roughly 140 to 250 g/m² (indicative, specified per project)
Construction: Overlock seams (ISO 500 class), taped shoulders, 1x1 or 2x2 neck rib, coverstitched hems (ISO 406)
Decoration: Embroidery, transfer printing and sublimation in-house; screen printing through partner facilities
Testing: ISO 6330 and ISO 5077 for shrinkage, ISO 16322-3 for spirality, as specified by the buyer
