How a track jacket is built

A track jacket is the zipped top of a tracksuit, with a stand-up funnel collar or a hood, a full-length open-ended zip and rib, elastic or plain cuffs. It is made either from a knit such as brushed polyester tricot or from a lined woven shell.

Raglan sleeves give the sporting look and shoulder movement; set-in sleeves give a more structured line. Colour blocks and piping must meet across side seams and shoulders, and a jacket sold with matching bottoms is cut from one dye lot where quantities allow.
